The Give Kids a Smile program was started by the American Dental Association in 2003, giving ADA members the opportunity to give back to their local communities through the provision of dental services to underserved children. Initially, this program was designed as a one-day event. However, it has grown to include several local and national events throughout the year. At events, volunteer dentists donate time and services such as dental screenings and treatments, as well as education, helping kids around the United States gain more control over their oral health. Each year, more than 1500 events are held, and more than 40,000 volunteers gather to help approximately 450,000.

Chet Buchanan and the Morning Zoo Toy Drive – December 11, 2011
Dr. Jim & Debby Wright stopped by the Morning Zoo Toy Drive to visit Chet Buchanan, bringing with them bags brimming with toys. The Morning Zoo Toy Drive with Chet Buchanan is one of the largest and longest running single location toy drives – working 24 hours a day for 12 days straight to accept donations of gift cards, toys, and bikes. While the drive is ongoing, and regardless of the weather, Chet sleeps in a tent on an elevated outdoor platform. This year, his toy drive collected more than $151,000 in gift cards, over 2,330 bikes, and 16 Albertsons semi-trucks filled with toys. CONGRATULATIONS CHET…WHAT AN AMAZING COMMITMENT!
